The benefits and
true power of coaching is misunderstood by
many organisations and not surprisingly. Firstly,
it’s a relatively new personal development
tool and secondly, it’s fairly intangible.
We believe that The Coaching Challenge can
demonstrate the power of coaching by simply
measuring its effectiveness, making it easier
to understand the benefits and where it can
add real value to your business.
The challenge

|
A
target is set for a volunteer executive
that is agreed upon with his or her
line manager. The target has to be in keeping with
targets usually set but slightly “stretched” (i.e.
a bigger challenge than normal – perhaps
a quarterly sales figure of £10,000
more than normal) |

|
A sample
of perhaps 5 volunteer executives take
part |
 |
Where
possible all variables and influences
remain the same during the coaching
period (i.e.
incentives / bonuses remain in line with
achievement, staff remain consistent
etc) |
 |
The volunteers
are coached over the pre-defined period
to help them reach their targets |
The measures

|
The ultimate
measure is whether the targets are achieved
or not
Consideration to be taken for situations beyond the individuals’ control |

|
Additionally
measures may include:
Pre and post self-completion development questionnaires
A qualitative depth interview with each volunteer
Quali-quant interviews with line managers and surrounding team
Appraisal review comparisons, where appropriate |
